Toledo is the former capital of Castile and the seat of the archbishop who is Primate of Spain. Bamberger visited the city during his stays in Spain in 1850 and 1857. On these trips he made drawings that he later worked up into paintings in his Munich studio. This example shows an extensive view down the Tajo valley towards the bridge of San Martin next to the city.
