The predella shows a miracle from the life of St Anthony. As proof of Christ’s presence at the Eucharist, a donkey fell in the presence of consecrated bread. The composition, based on a central perspective, adheres to the rules for a picture’s structure formulated by Alberti in his treatise on painting in 1435.
