This panel was originally an integral part of the first still extant Florentine predella to be structured along the lines of a narrative. It records incidents from the legend of St Cecilia in five pictures. Here, the bride, Cecilia, is shown at the middle of the table, taking leave of her previous life at a feast surrounded by female companions.
