Its distinctive architecture and unique location on the entrance to the Canal Grande made the Church of Santa Maria della Salute a highly popular motif for vedute. Guardi, too, turned to this view repeatedly. Here he captures it immersed in evening light, which draws particular attention to the gondolieri.
