In the spring of 1868 Lenbach and Schack spent a few weeks in Granada. Views of the local countryside that the artist painted during the stay belong among his few essays in pure landscape. The view in this study, painted on oak panel, ranges from the Alhambra palace’s Torre de las Infantas in the foreground, across the rest of the palace complex and the Darro valley to the plain beyond.
