The scene is of an artist’s workshop in which the tools of the trade can be seen: on the left on the table there are small bowls of paint and a stone for grinding pigment; on the bottom right there are brushes and a little bottle of an auxiliary substance; palettes, engravings and drawings are hanging on the wall. The man in the tattered jerkin who holds out a picture to the viewer—a copy after Scipione Pulzone—is an art dealer. The young man in the background could be the painter whose work is being offered here—it is unlikely that it is Antolínez himself.
